QLeave (Portable LSL)
What is QLeave?
QLeave provides a portable long service leave scheme for workers in Queensland's
community services industry. The scheme started in 2021 and rewards you for your service to the industry by making sure you receive long service leave benefits, even if you change employers. Once you have 7 or more years of recorded service and 1155 service credits, you can claim paid long service leave. QLeave administers portable long service leave for workers in eligible industries in Queensland. The scheme recognises long-term service within an industry rather than with a single employer, allowing workers to accrue long service leave as they move between jobs. This provides workers with the opportunity to take a paid extended break after many years of service.
How does it work?
Each quarter, your employer submits a return detailing your gross wages and pays a levy to QLeave. When you have seven years and 1155 service credits of service recorded with QLeave, you’re entitled to 6.1 weeks of long service leave paid by us. Entitlements are based on time spent in the industry rather than time spent with an individual employer. So, even if you change jobs, your employers will tell us how many days you’ve worked overall.
Join QLeave
If you're eligible to join QLeave you will be registered by your employer when they submit an employer return to QLeave. It's free for workers to be registered with us. Employers pay a levy to QLeave which they then invest. The accumulated funds are used to pay your long service leave. If you are registered by your employer, QLeave will confirm your registration and advise you of your number. Provide this number to your employer to ensure that your work is recorded on your registration.
